Canskate Program
Our Canskate program is for skaters aged 5 and up, or available to Pre-Canskate graduates. This is a 10 week program in which skaters will learn basic skills and ice safety. If you have ever been to an event at Oceanside Place, you know that the equipment for emerging skaters is not enough to accommodate all the unsteady users that require their support. Help your child's confidence on skates and help them find their feet! Our trained staff will give your little one the skills they need to step onto the ice with confidence.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What type of skates are best to learn in?
A: Whatever type of skating your child will be doing in the future, however figure skates are best for learning because of the flat bottom and toe pick.
Q: Do I need a helmet?
A: Yes! A CSA approved helmet is required. Please no bicycle helmets.
Q: How early should I arrive?
A: Please arrive 15-20 minutes before your scheduled time. You know your child best; they should have enough time to use the facilities, put on skates, and don helmets before going on the ice.
Q: What should my child wear?
A: Waterproof gloves, CSA approved helmet, as well as comfortable warm clothing that is easy to move in.
