Skater Expectations, Conduct and Etiquette

• Skaters should be warmed up and and ready to step on the ice at the start of their session. 

• Skaters should be dressed in figure skating attire - tight stretchy pants/leggings or a dress/skirt and tight fitted sweater or zip up. 

• No hoodies.

• "Magic mini" style gloves preferred. 

• Awareness on the ice becomes more relevant in Jr. Academy Starskate.

• It is imperative that skaters and coaches be aware and watchful of those around them.  

• Right-of-way is given to the skater doing their solo with music. Other skaters need to move out of the way to allow them to execute their elements with space. 

• Skaters in a lesson have next priority. 

• Spins are generally practiced in the middle of the ice away from the jumping ends, unless practicing where they are in a solo. 

• When a skater falls they must get up immediately. 

• Prolonged chatting at the boards will not be tolerated - keep moving! 

• In competition skaters should have clean skates with new or clean laces, competition dress/outfit, long hair pulled back in a bun or ponytail.

• Jr. Academy Star skaters and families are expected to volunteer their time to help our club run events. No food, gum or drinks (other than water bottles) allowed at rink-side. Kicking the ice is prohibited and skaters will be asked to leave the ice if they exhibit this behaviour.
