Skater Expectations, Conduct and Etiquette
Skaters should be warmed up and and ready to step on the ice at the start of their session.
Skaters should be dressed in figure skating attire - tight stretchy pants/leggings or a dress/skirt and tight fitted sweater or zip up.
No hoodies.
"Magic mini" style gloves preferred.
Awareness on the ice becomes more relevant in Starskate and is an important part of ice safety. It is imperative that skaters and coaches be aware and watchful of those around them.
Right-of-way is given to the skater doing their solo with music. Other skaters need to move out of the way to allow them to execute their elements with space.
Skaters in a lesson have next priority.
Spins are generally practiced in the middle of the ice away from the jumping ends, unless practicing where they are in a solo.
When a skater falls they must get up immediately.
Prolonged chatting at the boards will not be tolerated - keep moving!
In competition skaters should have clean skates with new or clean laces, competition dress/outfit, hair pulled back in a bun or ponytail.
Star skaters and families are expected to volunteer their time to help our club run events. No food, gum or drinks (other than water bottles) allowed at rink-side. Kicking the ice is prohibited and skaters will be asked to leave the ice if they exhibit this behaviour.
